Marcelle Richards Tied with Mark Dwyer for the people's choice award!

Holy Mole Seitanic Chili

Marcelle enjoys playing with sharp objects in the kitchen and running with scissors.  She has a knack for dropping things, spilling things, and burning things, and kind of loves sporks.  In her free time, she hosts the Gastropacalypse Test Kitchen and bids the doing of her bull terrier and border collie mix.

Mark Dwyer Tied with Marcelle Richards for the people's choice award!

Magischer Klumpiger Furz-Chili

Mark is the member of a very large family of loving humans and non-humans in Janesville, WI.  Mark has been vegan for the past 10 years and while his occupation as the Director of Horticulture at Janesville's Rotary Botanical Gardens gets him some sun, his true love is the preparation and consumption of chili.  Having entered (and dominated) international chili competitions on four continents over the past 20 years, Mark had his professional chili preparation status revoked to enter this local competition and will feature a "new" recipe modified from centuries old, German, vegan chili recipes.

Linda Falkenstein Judges' Choice Winner!

Half Century Chili

Having served as a judge for two chili cookoffs, once for the AFA's Vegan Cookoff and once at a benefit for Stoughton's Yahara Grocery Co-op, I felt I should try it this year from the other side of the cutting board. My chili philosophy is twofold: Use peppers, not chili powder; and if you don't break a sweat, it's not really chili.

Cory Johnson

Chili con Carnival

Cory Johnson hails from the vicinity of Green Bay, but has lived in Madison for the past 14 years.  As a result, the Packers and Badgers take up a great deal of his thought processes during the fall.  When he's not watching (and stressing over) both teams, he likes to cook and is eager to try new recipes.  So, out of this comes Chili con Carnival, which in spite of all of Wisconsin's traditions, does not have a trace of cheese within. Cory is supported in all of his endeavors by his wonderful girlfriend Stacey and their curmudgeonly cat Chloe.

Rachel Pfeiffer

Wicked Spicy Three-Way with Seitan

As a native of Cincinnati, Rachel's chili is inspired by the classic 3-way.  Her spiced seitan served with beans over whole wheat pasta is a party in your mouth that will leave you begging for more!  When she's not in the kitchen you can find Rachel biking and running around Madison.  Her companion kitties Meeka and Koshka often inhabit the kitchen proffering their advice.  "Should there be more spice?"..."Moar!"  Though, they are not vegan as Rachel, they have nothing but praises for seitan!

Sarah Strahler

Chili, Squashed!

Sarah is a super energetic student/mother currently living in West Allis during the week and occupying as many cities and spaces as possible during the weekend. Chili is her favorite thing to cook, and cooking is her favorite way to avoid schoolwork. She is excited to show off her new apron and chili recipe.
