Farmed Animals Committee

The Farmed Animals Committee works on behalf of farmed animals and the environment by promoting veganism. We table at festivals/expos in Madison, started a Vegan Mentor Program, and have other projects in the works.

Animals in Research

The Animals in Research Committee fights animal experiments at Covance and UW through educational events, protesting, and legal action. The Alliance is happy to announce Aaron Yarmel as the new Animals in Research committee leader. If you would like to join this committee please Contact Aaron ( for more information.

Companion Animals Group

The Companion Animals group has hosted speakers, worked with Pilots for Paws, drafted legislation for a chaining ordinance, and protested puppy mills and dog auctions. We are currently looking for a committee leader. Contact if you're interested.

Animals in Entertainment Group

The Animals in Entertainment Group got the elephants out of Vilas Zoo in 1999, and just recently, the same group helped pass the 2020 Dane County Elephant Ban. We're gearing up for another season of circus leafletting, and looking to spread our efforts across Wisconsin. We are currently looking for a committee leader. Contact if you're interested.

Wildlife Group

The Wildlife Group has posted no hunting signs, worked with the Companion Animal Group on opposing trapping, and has been a dedicated team of goose egg oilers. Right now, we're working to expand our efforts on the wolf hunt. The Alliance is happy to announce Melissa Smith as the new Wildlife committee leader. These meetups invite you to meet and socialize with other vegetarians and vegans in the Madison and Milwaukee areas.

Each event is well organized, friendly, welcoming, and some include delicious vegan food. This is a great place to come either alone or with your family or friends, to social with like-minds and learn more about a vegan lifestyle.

You will be sure to meet some great people!

The Alliance has a table at the Capitol Farmers' Market each Saturday morning in the summer. Stop by!

Vegan Chili Cookoff

Saturday, October 8th
Madison Masonic Center

Alliance for Animals and the Environment is hosting their 13th annual chili cook off! The event features chefs from area restaurants engaged in a friendly competition to see whose vegan chili will reign supreme. Vegan hot dogs and desserts will be available, and there will be a raffle with great prizes along with live music. Bring the family and enjoy a night with wonderful food in support of a worthy cause.
